What is Error 3371?

Although it displays itself as an error but more than an error this is more of a authenticity check performed by the QuickBooks software. Error 3371 pops up in the user’s screen when the software couldn’t validate the license data that it reposes on the system where it is installed first. No one can ask how does the license data gets disturb at the first place ?

Well, this can probably happen in either of the two conditions. First, if you are using a non-licensed alias counterfeit software on your system and because of which the data stored by QuickBooks gets tampered. Hence, the popping up of error 3371 happens.

Second, if a user tries to ditto his/her hard disk the original data that was installed by QuickBooks as a unique data gets replicated and henceforth does not remains unique at all. Therefore, the existence two license information creates problem for the software to verify which out of the two the authentic one is. 

And thus, the software initiates an authenticity error also known as Error 3371.

My system is encountering QuickBooks Error 3371. How do I resolve it?

To resolve the error 3371, you will have to make yourself register again for the QuickBooks and the first step to do it is to locate the Run prompt command window. This window can be opened by long holding the windows key and the key R on the keyboard.

Once the run prompt window is up on the screen you will have to type specific location where the license data is saved by QuickBooks on your system. For e.g. if QuickBooks saves the license data information in drive C on your system in the folder XYZ which is further formed by the name of Intuit then your command will look like this:

C:\XYZ\Intuit\user\123

Where C is the drive on the system XYZ is the folder in drive C and intuit is the folder which is formed by QuickBooks software. User and 123 both are the sub folders files within the Intuit folder.

Now, once this is done you should now be finding the ECML file in the folder that you have just searched in the above step and then finally delete it from your system. After deleting the ECML file you will be required to re-open the QuickBooks software for re registration.

Once you register again for QuickBooks your hard disk will be given a new unique license data number and start functioning as normal.
